Infinite Worlds AI Game Master for iPhone
Infinite Worlds is a solo tabletop adventure with an AI narrator. You describe what your character does; the narrator writes what happens next and remembers it. Email paul@grcsac.com with anything this page does not answer.
Getting started
- Choose a narrator. Tap the gear at the top right, then Narrator. "On this iPhone" downloads a model once and then plays offline; "Claude" uses your own API key from Anthropic; the sample storyteller lets you try the screens without either.
- Choose a world. Dungeons & Dragons gives you a classic campaign with dice and a character sheet; Custom World takes any genre and any premise you type.
- Play. Type what you do in the box at the bottom and tap the arrow. When the narrator offers options they appear as chips; tap one or type something else.
Questions
Which model should I download?
Open Settings › Narrator › Models on this iPhone. The "Which one?" box at the top says which models are fastest, which write the most dramatic prose, and which keep the rules most exactly. Each model's page says what it is like, how big the download is and how much memory it needs. An iPhone with 6 GB of memory runs the Fast tier, 8 GB the Balanced tier, 12 GB (the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max) every model.
The download is large. Can I use cellular data?
The models are 2 to 6 GB. Downloads use Wi-Fi unless you turn on "Allow cellular data" on the same screen. A download continues with the app closed and resumes if interrupted.
How do I use Claude?
Create an API key at console.anthropic.com, then in the app open Settings › Narrator › Claude and paste it. Usage is billed by Anthropic to your account; the app shows what the last turn cost. The app asks for your consent before any text leaves the phone.
Where are my stories?
On the home screen under "Continue your journey". Stories live only on your phone and are included in your iPhone backup.
Can I move a world between the PC game and the phone?
Yes. On the PC, use Export › Export world seed and send the .iwseed.json to the phone by AirDrop, Mail or Files; on the phone, tap "Bring a world from the PC or the web" or open the file from Files. A story .json from the PC game or the web edition opens the same way, with the whole story.
The narrator is slow or the phone gets warm.
The on-device models run on the phone's own processor. A Fast-tier model writes a passage in about ten seconds on a recent iPhone, a Best-tier model in about half a minute, and the first passage of a session takes longer while the model loads. The phone may get warm; a very hot phone pauses the narrator until it cools. Settings › Narrator › Models on this iPhone shows the last passage's speed.
The narrator did something odd.
Small models sometimes drift. Retry regenerates the last reply; Edit takes back your last action to change it. Changing to a larger model, or to Claude, gives steadier prose and better memory of the rules.
How do I delete a model or a story?
Models: Settings › Narrator › Models on this iPhone › the model › Delete. Stories: swipe one left on the home screen.
Is anything sent anywhere?
With a model on the phone, nothing. With Claude, each turn goes to Anthropic under your own key. There is no account and no server of ours. The privacy policy has the details.
